Pricing
Sarai charges for one thing: the electricity you put in your car. The app is free and nothing is added to the price you are shown before you plug in. Wallet top-ups carry only the payment provider's processing fee, passed through to you at cost — Sarai keeps none of it.
What each service costs
| Service | Price | How it is charged |
|---|---|---|
| Sarai app Charger map, trip planner, wallet, receipts |
Free | Free to download and use. There is no subscription, membership or account fee. |
| Charging at a Sarai-managed charger | Per kWh | Priced per kilowatt-hour by the charger's operator and shown in the app before you start. You are billed on the energy the charger actually meters. A few chargers instead carry a flat price for the session — where they do, that flat price is what the app shows. See how a rate is set below. |
| Wallet top-up | From 1% | Payment is taken by our payment provider, which charges a processing fee (MDR) on the transaction. That fee is passed through to you at cost — Sarai adds nothing on top and keeps none of it — and it depends on how you pay, from 1% + tax for Raast to 3% + tax for an international card. See top-up processing fees below. Top-ups start at PKR 200 and a single top-up is capped at PKR 100,000. |
| Minimum balance to start a charge | PKR 50 | Not a fee — it stays your money. It is the balance the app requires before it will start a session, so a charge cannot begin that the wallet cannot cover. |
| Reserving a connector | Free | Where reservations are offered, making one is free and cancelling it is free. Nothing is held or debited from your wallet to reserve. |
| Stopping a charge early | Free | You are billed only for the energy delivered up to that point. There is no cancellation fee for stopping early. |
| Idle time after charging | Per minute | Most chargers have none. Where an operator sets a per-minute idle fee for staying plugged in after the charge completes, it is shown on that charger before you start. |
| Community & open-data chargers | Not billed | These are navigation listings only. Sarai does not operate them and takes no payment for them — you pay their owner directly, by whatever means they accept. |
| Refunds | Free | Where a billing error is confirmed, the difference is refunded to your wallet, usually within 3–5 business days. See the Refund Policy. |
Nothing is added at the end. The price per kWh you see on a charger before you start is the price you are billed at. Sarai does not add a booking fee, a service fee, a connection fee or a payment-processing fee to a driver's charge.
How a charging rate is set
Charging is billed per kWh — for the energy the charger actually meters. The rate a driver pays at each charger is set under Sarai's agreement with the operator of that charger, and it is always shown in the app before you start. That rate is what you are billed at; nothing is added on top.
Sarai's platform share is part of that per-kWh rate, not an extra charge — it is a split of the displayed price, agreed with the operator, and settled between us after the session. The driver pays only the rate shown, whichever way it is divided behind it.
Top-up processing fees
Adding money to your wallet is handled by our online payment provider, which charges a processing fee (the merchant discount rate, or MDR) on each transaction. Sarai passes this fee through to you at cost — nothing is added on top and Sarai keeps none of it. The rate depends only on the payment method you choose, so paying by Raast costs the least.
| How you pay | Processing fee | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Raast | 1% + tax | Instant bank-to-bank transfer — the lowest-cost way to top up. |
| 1Bill | 2% + tax | 1Bill voucher / bill payment. |
| Card (local) | 2.5% + tax | Debit or credit card issued in Pakistan. |
| Wallets (Easypaisa, JazzCash) | 2.5% + tax | Mobile-wallet payment. |
| IBFT (account pull) | 2.5% + tax | Direct debit / inter-bank funds transfer from your account. |
| Card (international) | 3% + tax | Card issued outside Pakistan. |
Fees are set by the payment provider and may change; the exact fee for the method you pick is shown on the top-up screen before you confirm. Any separate charge your own bank or wallet applies is theirs, not ours.
Payments, currency and taxes
- All prices are in Pakistani Rupees (PKR) and all payments are taken in PKR.
- Wallet top-ups are processed by our payment provider and can be paid by Raast, debit or credit card, Easypaisa or JazzCash. A pass-through processing fee applies by method (see top-up processing fees). Sarai does not store your card or bank details.
- Prices shown to drivers are inclusive of applicable taxes unless a charger states otherwise on its page.
- A receipt is issued for every charging session and every top-up, in the app under Wallet and Charging history, and by a shareable link.
